The programme has two categories: SML Saarthi Scholarship for students in Classes 11 and 12 and SML Unnati Scholarship for eligible students pursuing undergraduate, diploma or polytechnic programmes in STEM and core engineering fields.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be girl students and the daughter of a driver of an eligible heavy or light commercial road transport vehicle carrying goods, or a large passenger transport vehicle such as a bus. The annual family income from all sources should generally not exceed ₹6 lakh, and applicants must have secured at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade in the previous academic year or semester.
For the SML Saarthi category, students should be studying in Class 11 or 12. The SML Unnati category is intended for students pursuing eligible undergraduate, diploma or polytechnic courses in STEM disciplines and core engineering fields.
Scholarship Amount
Selected Class 11 and 12 students under the SML Saarthi Scholarship can receive ₹10,000. Eligible undergraduate, diploma and polytechnic students under the SML Unnati Scholarship can receive ₹30,000. The scholarship support is intended to help with educational expenses.
